CHILDERS AK-CRYL CP-9 WEATHER BARRIER COATING – 1 GALLON PAIL

Description:

AK-CRYL® CP-9 is a cost-effective, polymeric, water-based weather barrier mastic. It dries to form a tough, flexible film that shields thermal insulation from weather-related damage by preventing water, rain, snow, sleet, spillage, and wash water from penetrating the system. Additionally, CP-9 offers protection against mechanical damage caused by external forces such as impact and abrasion, as well as internal forces like thermal expansion, contraction, and vibration. The CP-9 coating also safeguards insulation from chemical attacks by acids, alkalis, and solvents. It is fire-resistant and UV-stable.

Uses:

AK-CRYL CP-9 Weather Barrier Coating provides mechanical protection and weatherproofing for thermal insulation in both indoor and outdoor settings, suitable for hot, cold, and dual-temperature services. As a "breather" coating (allowing vapors under pressure to pass through), it should only be used over insulations in low temperature or dual-temperature service when the insulations themselves are vapor barriers, or where a complete vapor barrier system is applied to the insulated surface before or after the coating. Industry experience has shown that all weather barrier coatings may blister when applied over polystyrene board; this effect can be minimized by using white-colored coatings.

Advantages:

  • Safety: In its wet state, AK-CRYL CP-9 is non-flammable, ensuring worker safety.
  • Economical: As a water-based product, it contains no harmful solvents that could damage insulations or facings.
  • Versatile Application: The special formulation allows for application throughout most of the year, enhancing productivity. It is easy to apply with a trowel, glove, brush, or heavy-duty airless spray.
  • Smooth Finish: The thixotropic consistency ensures a smooth, attractive finish over rough substrates, filling gaps and imperfections effectively. It is typically applied with a glass fabric reinforcing mesh.
